The Safer Communities Police Team
The Safer Communities Police Team for Barton, Tredworth and White City has been working hard to keep crime down by 24%. This level of reduction is exceptional and has been achieved by the team working in a different way, focussing on key issues raised by residents. This approach is now informing the countywide roll-out of neighbourhood policing.
The team comprises...
- Sergeant Jon Testar - Team Leader
- PC Dawn Collings - tackling anti-social behaviour
- PC Darren Smith - tackling drug dealing in the area (a county council-funded officer)
- PC Sam Li - Offender Manager
- PC Richard Handley - Offender Manager
- PC James Bryon - Community Beat Officer (a county council-funded officer)
PC Damian Lea is now working in a new role within the constabulary. The Safer Community Team thank him for his efforts for the last two years serving the community as the Community Beat Officer.
Contacting the Safer Communities Police Team
To speak to a member of the Safer Communities Police Team, or to leave a message for them, call 0845 - 090 - 1234 and ask for extension 5174.
Don't forget, this number is for non-emergencies only. If a crime is being committed at the time or if there is a threat to life, always ring 999.
Meet our Police Community Support Officers...
The Community Counts area has four Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) as part of its Safer Communities Police Team. Pictured on the right are PCSO Mark Jones, PCSO Stacey Lee and PCSO David Birch. PCSO Mohamed Ginwalla is not pictured.
PCSOs play a vital role in the success of the police team, forging strong links within the community, patrolling the area, and helping to maintain a high police profile within the Barton, Tredworth and White City areas of the city.
As well as taking part in the team's routine police operations and campaigns, the PCSOs have been busy working with schools, street reps and neighbourhood co-ordinators to ensure that key messages get across.
